How Educational Leaders Might Use Blogs

A Blog can be an excellent tool for educational leaders.  It is a place where important school related information can be communicated and accessed at any time.  Important announcements such as a school closing due to bad weather can be posted immediately.  A blog can be used instead of a newsletter to keep parents informed of upcoming events and other school news. It can also be used to discuss various school related topics with colleagues, parents, and students, and provides a space for ongoing discussion and feedback.
Educational leaders can also use blogs as an outlet for sharing ideas and interacting with other school leaders and colleagues.  Advice and feedback can be easily shared, and ideas can be bounced around through ongoing discussion.

  1. I agree that a blog can be a great tool. The thing that draws me to blogs the most is that they are accessible anywhere, you don't have to be on a computer or at your computer at school to post to them. Parents are willing to read blogs or facebook, but sometimes overlook letters that go home. I'm looking forward to using them in the future!

  2. Good uses for an educational leaders blog. Many times it is easier to log onto your computer and look at a blog then to listen to the news for school closings or email a teacher to ask about an upcoming school event.

  3. I like the idea of a blog instead of a newsletter. Blogs can be updated much easier than a newsletter and parents are more likely to read them. I also like the idea of using a blog to share ideas with colleagues. Do most people have more than one blog?

    1. I doubt that most people have more than one blog only because it can be time consuming to keep up with a blog. That was my experience. I started one to keep my son's pictures and memories that I didn't want to forget (I have a terrible memory), and had every intention of keeping it up. But, I soon found that I just didn't have the time! Thank you for your comment!
